Character Creation Guide

Vortex Sky-X includes two versions of Twelve Sky in one launcher/client.

Game Versions

Twelve Sky 1 (TS1)

Twelve Sky 2 (TS2)

Twelve Sky 2 Character Creation

Both versions run using the same client and server environment, but their game cores are separated. That means gameplay systems, balance, progression, and mechanics can differ depending on which game you choose.

Vortex Sky-X also supports cross-game interaction in certain ways (server-dependent), so players from TS1 and TS2 may be able to interact through specific shared systems and chat if on the same faction.

Character Slots

We support up to 6 characters per account (3 default + 3 unlockable).

Character Slots

To unlock additional slots, use Character Slot Permit. Each permit permanently unlocks 1 slot for the account.

Before You Create a Character: Pick Your Game Core

The most important decision during character creation is your game core.

  • Game: Twelve Sky 1 -> creates a TS1 character (TS1 ruleset)
  • Game: Twelve Sky 2 -> creates a TS2 character (TS2 ruleset)

Important: Even with cross-game features, your character is still created inside one core (TS1 or TS2) and follows that core's mechanics and progression.

Step-by-Step: Creating a Character

From the main menu, click Create Character to open the character setup panel.

Early Progression Basics

After creating your account, you will be asked to select a faction to fight alongside: Guanyin, Jinong, or Fujin. Each faction has its own primary damage weapon (Blade, Long Spear, Katana), defensive weapon (Sword, Light Blade, Double Blades), and ranged weapon (Marble, Scepter, Lute).

Each weapon has its own single-hit, multi-hit, and AOE (area of effect). Ideally, it is best to grind with either your faction's primary damage weapon so you do more damage while grinding, or the defensive weapon, since only defensive weapons have skills that boost your defense and let you grind harder-hitting mobs while taking less damage.

Whichever weapon you choose, unlock that weapon's AOE skill and multi-hit skill from its trainer in your starting map.

Start by using your multi-hit skill to kill mobs in your starting map. As you level up, you will receive 5 stat points to allocate (see Stat Distribution guide for more info) and skill points to level your skills.

When fighting mobs, after clicking on them, you will see their name highlighted as red, purple, or gray:

  • Red means they are tougher mobs and outside your level range. You can still get XP from them if you can kill them, but the XP is not ideal.
  • Purple means they are in your level range and are ideally the mobs you should grind.
  • Gray means no XP will be gained from fighting them, and you will not receive drops.

As you build your character by leveling stats, gear, and skills, you can move to different maps with stronger mobs. The best places to grind are dungeons found in various maps (see Faction Maps guide for more info), where most mobs will aggro to you, letting you AOE and kill them 10 at a time. This is the best form of XP grinding.

Skill Progression and Heavenly Skills

After selecting a faction and weapon, check your mini-map for a trainer. The trainer teaches your starting level 1 weapon skills and shows a brief description for each skill.

As you level up, you can find level 30 and level 60 single-hit and multi-hit skills from various mobs and bosses to replace your level 1 skills. Use a Book of Clear Fog to remove old/lower-level skills before replacing them.

These heavenly and support skills can be used by all factions and can be found in different parts of the game by killing mobs and bosses. Depending on the skill, they require level 60 or level 80 to use.

  • Heavenly Shield: Adds an HP shield of 150%
